1 cm tear in my Achilles Tendon at base of hind foot, anyone have good result with Doc in LI, NY for Surgery?
America help! One doc, bandaged my foot with pills and send me on my way. Another gave me a walking boot, with orthotics, and also send me on my way. Both don’t seem to help as far as nature fixing the problem, other night my foot was swollen and in more pain. I need someone in LI that is an expert in this area. Tired of paying $40 co-pay for office visits with no plan of action!

I had knee surgery in July and my doctor is nothing but great. He’s in orthapaedics and is associated with Columbia Presbyterian. He also happens to be the orthapaedic doctor to the Yankees. He has an LI office and an Upper East Side office as well. His name is Dr. Stuart Hershon and I’m not sure of the LI number, but I’m sure if you called the Manhattan office they could give it to you.

My knee surgery went really well, I recommend him. Plus, he’s friendly and pretty easy to talk to. Good luck!
Well, I cut mine (10% of it was sliced through) in an injury where a piece of metal slashed the back of my ankle. For that, they don’t do surgery. I went to the emergency room and here’s what happened:
They put my foot and leg in a cast up to my knee. I had that on for 3 weeks while the injury healed. I had pain off and on the entire time and sleeping was horrible. Then when it had healed up, they took off the cast and gave me the walking boot and I had that for about 2 months. I started physical therapy when I had the walking boot. Also at that time, scar tissue was beginning to form so it was necessary to stretch my ankle out even though it hurt.
I think I was able to walk a little bit about 3 mths. later, then run about 9 mths. later.
While it is healing up (right after the injury) you can’t put any pressure on it. Don’t even attempt to walk on it, that just makes things worse. I needed crutches to get around.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Also, I had an orthopedic surgeon treat me in the emergency room and then do follow-up treatment for the months afterward.
i tore mine completely and than was misdiagnosed for 10 months and finally had to have two surgeries to repair it a year and a half later – you definitely need to find an othopedic (sp?) surgeon and have an MRI done ASAP. I had months of rehab and still cannot stand on my toes on that foot alone or jump on it. Good luck and take care.
