Achilles tendon and ice?
It is said that if you have pain in Achilles tendon you should put on ice. It is just to stop the pain or is there also a healing function?

There is definitely a ‘healing’ function to the ‘ice’ when you have a strain (tendons) or a sprain (muscles) … the ice reduces the ‘inflammation’ (swelling) as well as reducing the pain … but ONLY for the first 24-48 hours. After that, use ‘heat’ (especially hot water with ‘epsom salts’ (magnesium sulfate) …
You’re going to have to heal it. ice won’t do much at all. really for the achilles tendon, depending on the amount of strain, needs to be treated as most other injuries. wrap it so you dont move it, and rest it for a week or so. achilles tendonitis is a little bit more serious than other stuff like shin splints and runners knee. you should wrap it up so you dont use it, producing a straight lower leg walk. it’s also important to treat it with care after healing, dont make your first run 30 minutes of bleachers or hills.
