Sports dilemma, i don’t want to hurt myself.?
i started catching for softball about 1 year ago and i luv it. i’m pretty good too (according to everybody else, including the other teams coaches and the umpire, but i don’t think i’m all that great). anyway i play softball because it’s fun, winning either comes or it doesn’t. anyhoo (oh, i’m a 15 year old girl by the way), i started to have pain in my heels. at first i just shrugged it off, but when it got to be too much, i told somebody. the doctor said my achilles tendon is being strained, he said i could either quit catching or catch and just know it’s gonna hurt. softball sign-ups are tomorrow and i don’t know if i should put that i’m a catcher or second baseman (my other position).doc said there is a slight possibility that i could tear my tendon, but it’s not very likely. i want to catch, but i don’t want to hurt myself. what should i do, any advice?
I hurt my ankle months ago and it still hurts!?
I’m in mixed martial arts and injured my ankle on a badly timed kick. This was about three months ago. Nowadays, I still feel pain on the lateral side of my ankle and my achilles tendon whenever I run for more than 5 miles, or lift, or do circuit training. But after I give it a rest for one day, the pain subsides.
It’s very sharp pain usually a few hours after I work out. And I tried giving it a few weeks off. Can you help me figure this out? And if I do have weak ankles, what are some progressive tips to strengthen them?
Feet hurt so badly that it’s difficult to walk?
In the last year, it’s become incredibly hard to walk most of the time. I try to hide it, but it’s getting progressively worse. It started with tingling in my toes, and a couple of black colored toneails. My calf then started to ache and hurt when I went up stairs. I’m only 21, and I now have constant severe pain in the heels on my feet, my shins are sore to the touch, and my ankles have a constant sharp pain whenever I’m walking. I’m a full time college student working a full time job, with two kids and I’m trying to support our family. (Please don’t put down my husband, I wanted to work.) So I’m just trying to find the time to get hospital tests done. My family doctor had an US of my veins and arteries to check for DVT, but those tests came back fine. I’m supposed to go soon and get some more tests ran-for Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. I’m not seeing a specialist though.
I have swelling of my ankles, and even when sitting, the pain radiates from the arch of my foot, to my achilles tendon, ankle, up my calf, and into my shins. My knees also hurt sometimes.. I always feel kind of stiff, like I really need to pop my back but I can’t. It’s symmetrical pain. Please, any advice at all would be great, and thanks in advance.
Thank you pickin5strings, the support means a lot. ![]()
Are there any doctors or nurses out there who could help me??
Thank you. It’s possible that it’s spondylosis, the symptoms are very similar.

What makes my ankles hurt, and how can I fix it?
I’ve played recreational soccer before joining track. I’m 16 years, in decent physical condition, with no previous physical problems. I’m definitely not overweight, weighing about 140 lbs. for being 5′11.
Still, ever since we ran a short jog on the road, my ankles have been killing me anytime I start to run.
I bought new shoes with an improved heel and arch, but they haven’t helped. I can’t exactly pinpoint where the pain is, but it might be my Achilles tendon, or it might not.
I have my first track meet in about a week, and I’m running the 800m and the 4×400m. I need to solve this problem asap.
Thanks. ^^
Why does my foot hurt?
At first I thought it was plantar fasciitis, but now I’m not sure. The sole or bottom of my foot doesn’t hurt at all, it’s my Achilles tendon that gets sore after I run. I have noticed that if I am sitting down and move my foot around in the air, I can’t reproduce the same pain. It doesn’t even hurt when I rub it. It’s only when I start walking again. Any idea what it could be?
Please don’t tell me to go see a doctor, that’s already in the works.
My heels and back of ankles hurt. Whats wrong with me?
I believe I have the condition called Achilles Tendon, I can barely walk at times on my heels, plus its uncomfortable walking barefooted in my home. What could this be, also what are good brand shoes that can help my heel and ankle pain. Looking for something more stylish, I wear a 9regular/medium.
I have Achilles Tendonitis why does it only hurt when I stretch?
I had my foot in an immobilizing boot for 5 weeks and then went to physical therapy for another month. I am still going to physical therapy and it doesn’t hurt when I walk and doesn’t hurt when doing toe or heel raises. But when I do any calf or Achilles tendon stretches (the wall stretches) then I feel a sharp pain. Could this be just because I am sore because my physical therapist has had me more active than usual or does it mean I should slow down because it hasn’t healed enough yet? By the way I am a 15 year-old male.
not sure how bad i hurt my achilles tendon?
I got my foot caught in between a boat and a dock, I got it out before it was completely caught but it still caught some of the impact. For the first day or two I limped around a little and it swelled up a bit but after that I can walk fine (unless its bumped or something) but when it stretches like say you point your foot up as high as you can using only your ankle then raise your leg in the air as if kicking a ball it feels as though it is being strecthed to the point of ripping. I understand this may sound a little confusing but I’m concerned as to whether it will heal itself or it needs medical attention. This happened about two weeks ago and the pain seems to be the same as day three without improvement. It doesn’t seem to be swollen at all and feels kind of numb when touched but other than that it feels normal
Did i hurt my Achilles Tendon?
Alrighty, i was riding my bike and trying to do a wheelie. I pulled up on my handle bars and pushes my right pedal down on my tippy toes pretty hard. After maybe 20 tries or so i noticed that i had a pain about 4 – 5 inches above my ankle and directly behind my foot. It hurts when i stand on my tippy toes. If i did damage my achilles do you think that it will heal by tomorrow?
It doesn’t hurt enough to hinder my activities but it hurts enough for my to be scared because i don’t want this to be a season ender .(i’m a track runner)
IDK how to do a wheelie but this is how i was taught
Lift your front handlebars by leaning back or pulling up and whilst doing this pedal down with your strong leg to help with lift, on a high gear and since it’s just starting the gears can provide a lot of resistance and strain on my calf.
I don’t know how it will affect my running because i haven’t ran since. I’m just a hypochondriac about running injuries.
