Need help/advice. How to start back running again?

Before cross country season I fractured my tibia and my achilles tendon and formed tendinitis around both my ankles and also had shin splints, due to my stupidity. ( Fixed the problem that gave me all these injuries).

Anyways, 14 weeks have passed so I have tried running again. Just a mile. No pain at all while running. I kept the distance to only a mile. My legs just felt light and weak (Is that normal?). I stretched A LOT before and after. Once I got home after the run my left shin began to hurt when I climbed upstairs. Not a lot, on a 1-10 scale the pain was a 1. It went away quickly.

Days after my hamstrings, legs, and ankles were all really sore and stiff so I decided to take a break from running until I mark the 16th week. How should I work my way back up to running 5-8 miles a day like I used to?

Preventing specific running injuries.?

I recently started running. I’m still young (29 yrs) but dont really excersise regularly, and when used to do it regularly, I only did resistance training. ( Weights )… I wanted to start running thinking I’d love it if I gave it a fair shot… and guess what? I do!!… Except, The first week I started ( I promise I didnt over do it, I actually was going by this running book that gave beginners a schedule so they dont over do it )….so, the first week, My Knees were killing me! I appeared to have a the syptoms of “runners knee”… so I toned it down a whole lot!!!…. I started off even slower and then my ankles started hurting. But I couldnt figure out if it was a SPRAIN, or Achilles Tendinitis since the A.T pain Should be right at the back and center where my pain was somewhere between the ankle bone and the tendon that should be hurting IF I did infact have AT…. ANYWAY… so I’ve rested for 2 weeks, and finally all the pain faded… I’m back to normal, I can walk again without limping… I can even jump, somethign that was impossible to do ( again, AT symptom )… but could either of those two conditions heal on their own w/o doctors? Also, what are the chances it happens again?… and How can i prevent it again, when I was already being super duper careful???? what else do i need to do?… I mean, I’m still young enough were I should be active without pulling something!

Excruciating pain in Achilles tendon when running?

Unlike others, I never ever get stitches in my ribs or my abdomen – and the pain is the only thing that slows me down. It feels like the tendon is being burnt and pulled apart at the same time.
Running is very important to me, guys, so how do I stop and/ or prevent the pain?

running injury (good description)?

about 2 months ago i started running and i started out with a mile and gradually over 2 weeks worked up to 2 miles. one day i ran 2 miles and came home with a weird but not painful feeling in my right calf and a little lower. the next day i ran again for some reason another 2 miles and at the beginning of the run i felt the abnormal feeling again but soon went away during the run…a week went by and i ran 3 miles. again, during the beginning it felt weird and after a little bit it went away. i got home and it got a tight feeling but no pain. the next morning and 3 days after that i had to real pain walking around but when i acted like i started to run like taking off it hurt in my achilles tendon. that was a month and a half ago and today i still feel an abnormal feeling in my calf when i walk but not so much in my achilles tendon.

what should i do to heal this injury? or could someone tell me what it is.

What should I do to keep running?

I’m in CC and am REALLY FRIGGEN’ CLOSE to varsity. Though I’ve been taking care of myself, I’m also hurting. A lot. When we start warm-ups, everything starts to hurt. Right hip, left thigh, both knees, shins, ankles, and now today my right Achilles tendon. Some of the pains go away as we finish our warm-ups, but others get worse. My right hip and left knee are the only pains that ever hurt enough to make me stop. Been treating it it with ice and ibuprofen, plus biking. I’m afraid to tell my coach because I’ve been getting so much better and don’t want to stop midway in season. Our injured girls outnumber our JV girls!

I also have trouble breathing at almost every race. Random people are always asking if I have asthma. The only times I don’t have trouble is when I stay up all night and endorphins keep me going or I drink coffee ALL DAY.

It’s not the shoes– my shoes are perfect.
“And for the breathing thing, are you saying you don’t have breathing trouble when you don’t sleep or drink lots of coffee on RACE days? Those are terrible things to do before a race…”

Eep! I know :/ That’s why I don’t make a habit out of it.

Foot Pain/Injury After Running?

Okay so I am a distance runner in cross country season at the moment. We are a very serious team running every single day ranging between 6 and 15 miles a day. I know overtraining causes injury but my coach is insistant on this training schedule and I guess our team just bears it for a few months. My past injuries include lower back problems, runners knee (tendonitis in my patella), and my current problems include IT band syndrome, shin splints (but ive had them for 2 and a half years now), posterior tibial tendonitis, and now this foot pain. I have been researching online and I am not sure what I have. It’s on the forefront of my foot I believe, and if you go from the knobby ankle bone on the outside of the foot and go straight towards the toes about 2 in, there are a cluster of tendons or ligaments or something there and that’s where the pain is. It’s like the little squishy part of the foot (that’s the only other way I can describe it. It’s swollen right now and has been for about 12 hours. I ran in a meet, if anyone knows Manhattan Invite that was the meet, and it didn’t hurt during the race but it started hurting during my cooldown and has hurt since. I can walk on it if I put the weight on the outside of my foot, but not if I am walking normally. It also hurts to move it in a circle. That’s all I can think of, If you have any ideas please tell me I need to make it throught another month and a half of the season. Also, if it will help at all I do pronate, but I got custom orthotics when I was diagnosed with the tibial tendonitis (and It actually made that go away). Possibilities I found online were anterior tibial tendoinitis or just an ankle sprain/strain, but I wasn’t exactly sure if where my foot it and where those tendons/ligaments are matched up. Thanks for your help, sorry this was so long.
