I went to the Orthopedic Dr. for ankle and foot pain. Ive had this pain for about 6 months and it was caused by something falling onto my foot. Since I did not have insurance nobody was willing to take a look at it. So I just dealt with it. I got a splint from walgreens and used it as needed. Well now the pain is so bad no matter what Iam doing( even kicking the blanket off at night causes a horrible pain.) Seeing how ive been hurting for so long I do not really limp from it anymore. although I do get pain. Well the Dr I went to was a complete A**. He said since Im not limping, that im not in pain meaning nothing is really wrong with me. He did xrays just to check and it showed no broken bones. He said he thinks its tendinitis and gave me Voltaren Xr 100mg and told me to take it every day for a month and sent me on my way. and also to make sure i wear shoes ALL the time except when i shower. Sorry but im not sleeping in shoes!!Do you think this is the right treatment and should give it a try or should i seek a 2nd opinion

i dance ballet and we tip toe a lot. i think i have achilles tendinitis and i don’t know how to heal it. i don’t know if it’s worse but i don’t think so. i can still stand on my toes and go up the stairs but after sleeping, i feel pain the next day. only on my left foot. when i tap my ankle, it kinda hurts. and there’s a popping like sound or creaking when i raise it or rise to my toes. it’s not red and swelling. i don’t know how to heal it. can i just rest for a week and start doing my activities? or should i rest for a month?

I do ballet and I haven’t been putting my heels down when I jump and have had achilles tendinitis before…….. Yesterday in class I didn’t do jumps and I’ve iced my foot. Today I’m going to the doctor. Can somebody tell me ways to strengthen my ankles or prevent it from coming again?

Hi everyone. Let me tell you what’s going on. At the end of this May, I was diagnosed with achilles tendinitis. My current girlfriend lives on a hill, and I re-injured it twice by visiting her. Now, when I visit her I do not get out of the car, and we spend time together in my car. I know she is losing her patience with me. Also, she doesn’t drive, so it is up to me to go visit her. Since then, I have been suffering from depression, as I cannot go inside her house, and it seems like it’s never going to heal. To make things worse, it feels like I’m starting to develop it in my other foot. I am also experiencing hip pain. I know my depression will end when my AT heals. I have been doing the calf stretches, and taking NSAIDS since then. Sometimes it feels good, but everyday @ work, my ankle/calf swells up. I have an office job, so I’m not on my feet all day. I have been to the DR twice, and podiatrist once. They said to continue on the NSAIDS and keep doing the stretches. How long am I looking at?

I recently got back from a running camp in which we ran twice daily (more than I’d been running all summer) and I noticed my ankle was swollen. The swelling is on the back around the achilles tendon and up towards the bottom of my calf. It doesn’t hurt to walk and only hurts for the first mile or so of a run. It’s been 2 weeks and I have been icing it, stretching it and taking an anti-inflammatory. Could it be tendinitis or is it something else?
Also, the pain isn’t in the area of the swelling. It’s farther up the calf on the outside or directly on the front of my ankle. and the side of my heel (on the inside of my foot) hurts too

I just found out that I may have tendinitis of the shoulder, knees, legs and ankles from taking the antibiotics Avelox and Cipro. I never had tendinitis in my life. I’m 23 y/o. Healthy, and don’t do strainuous activites. I’ve noticed I’ve become really sleep a lot. I do have trouble falling asleep at night b/c of the pain but I seem to sleep 12-18 hrs a day. I’m not about to have a period. This is week 2 of my cycle which is bizarre for me to feel so tired. Currently, I eat healthy and take a mulitivitamin every day. I just want to know if the sleepiness is an effect of tendinitis or could it be something else?

I play many sports but right now I am in my basketball season. I’m about half way through the season. A few days ago, I noticed a problem with my ankle. I have sprained it a few times but this is different, unlike any problem I’ve had before. When I bend down to try and shoot a foul shot for example, I have a moderate pain at the bend in my ankle where my foot and leg come together. I also noticed that when I push on a certain spot on the bend part I get a severe pain that makes me cringe. I’m not certain but I do believe there is a bit of swelling at the same area. I’ve done some research and it sounds like a stress fracture, but a few people have said its probably just tendinitis.

Can anyone help me or relate to my problem? I have a doctors appointment on Monday but I’d like to get a few outside opinions. Thanks again.

im gonna try to make this short and sweet b/c im in dire need of advise. i play softball everyday for my school. its very strict if i get hurt, i have to fix it fast or i dont play….. i want to play bad.
a few days ago while running the back of my ankle began to hurt but i continued to perform at my best and ignored the pain. yesterday at practise it really began to hurt me so i started a limp to ease up on it but still performed regardless. today im paying for it. it hurts so bad i can barley walk on it and when i do i cant help but limp. i havent told my coach and i really dont want to go to the doc so is there something i can do to heal it myself?
if this is tendinitis what does this mean? will i always have problems with it? can it be healed?
please help and thank you.

Alright so i have gone through about a 3 1/2 year with achilles tendinitis, i was told i had that in 6th grade, and im not in 9th, i have tried every treatment available, custom orthodics, stretching, icing, tennis ball under my foot, everything me my dad and the doctor could think of, and they are not getting better! Im at the point now that i cant walk on them with out pain, they always hurt, and the pain has gotten worse over the last year ( and i have a high tollerance for pain believe me) and it hurts me. I go into the doctor on tuesday, and my dad thinks the doctor might say surgery, so im wondering if anyone has had achilles tendinitis surgery, if so was it worth it, did it help alot, and how long were you out for, i do play sports, so it would be hard to stay out for a while, but i would rather miss one sport then play through all of them with the pain of my ankle, so please tell me if you have had this surgery, becasuse this is driving me crazy,

i’ve had ankle pain for almost 4 years now on and off. the first year i had it i went to an orthopedic and i was told i have peroneal tendinitis because i have high arches. they told me i should do 6 weeks of physical therapy to strengthen the tendon, so i did. when i finished the pain seemed to go away for a few months then it would come back randomly. i had this pain on and off a year after i finished physical therapy. this last year i had it again but much worse where i could walk on it and had to go to the hospital. they took x rays and told me i didn’t break anything so they gave my an air cast and crutches for a few weeks until i had my appt. with the orthopedic. when i went to him he told me to do physical therapy again so i did and it got better for about 3 months and now im having horrible ankle pain with bruising and swelling. what should i do now? if i go back to the dr hes just going to send me to physical therapy AGAIN! please help me. thank you =]
