My running shoes give me blisters. Is this a problem?

My left leg is crooked. It’s not a big deal or otherwise disabling. But because my leg’s crooked, my left shoe always rubs a big fat blister across my Achilles. I put moleskin or bandaids or, my favorite, little corn pads on the trouble spot, and I wear different styles of shoes and all. But the blister’s always there. My ankle’s scarred and calloused and bleedy, but I’m mostly used to it and keep running. But I’m running around forty miles a week as I train for a marathon, and I’m beginning to worry that all the friction is stressing the tendon. Am I worried for no reason? I don’t have any pain beyond the skin issue.

I am facing charges of assaulting a police officer in LA County. Can you help me fight this?

Description of Events:
I had been with some friends at Zanzibar (1301 5th St. Santa Monica, CA 90401-1414) on the evening of August 31st dancing and hanging out. I was very careful of my consumption, as I had recently started the process of clearing up my DUI received in Ventura County in May. Thus I had no more than 2 drinks in 3 hours.
I had met a girl and decided to let my friends head back to their house early. After I was finished I contacted my friends to see if they were at their house on 11th and Ocean Park Blvd. They indicated they were so I proceeded to walk to their house. I decided not to hail a cab as my funds were low and the walk was not that far.
Upon Arrival I had lost contact with my friends so I proceeded to call out to them 3 times to see if they could hear me. After the third attempt at verbally gaining their attention I had decided to wrap it up and head to my office in Venice Beach CA.
Upon turning around I noticed a dark figure, crouched and heading up the walkway toward me in the shadows. A voice called out. “Let me see your ID!” Not having a clear look at the unidentified figure I responded, “Please show me your ID!”(Image 01-04)
At which time the figure came closer into the light to reveal he was in fact an officer of the Santa Monica Police Department.
I immediately put my arms out to say “OK officer I will get you my ID”. At this point the officer made an attempt to grab my right arm which was drawing back to pull the wallet out of my pocket. Once my hand was in my pocket the officer grabbed my right elbow and spun me around. He them forcibly pushed me up against the wall pushing my head against the wall. I raised my arms in the air and asked the officer, “Is this absolutely necessary?” at which time I turned to my right, still arms up to look over my right shoulder at the officer. I then felt a painful blow to the lower left back of my skull which pushed my face into the wall and knocked me unconscious. I fell to the ground in a daze and cannot recall much after that point. I did briefly hear the officer call for backup while I was on the ground in an awkward indescribable position.
At that point I must have lost consciousness completely because it wasn’t until I was being searched at the Santa Monica Detention facility did I become coherent.
Key Points:
I am absolutely certain the officer did not identify himself before approaching me from the darkness nor was I aware of any marked or unmarked vehicles with flashing lights to indicate a police officer was in the area.
I am certain from the time I could clearly see his uniform markings that I was in complete compliance with his demands.
From my perspective I cannot recall any events from the time I was knocked unconscious to the time I awoke at processing which leads me to believe a stry was concocted to justify my arrest.
I have suffered:
•Two dislocated fingers on my right hand
•One dislocated thumb on my Left Hand
•One dislocated/bruised left big to.
•Bruised Right kidney
•A Bruised Left Calf and Achilles tendon
•A Golf Ball sized bruise on the lower left back of my skull
•A cut on my right Temple with a bruise suffered to the temple.

I was taken to the hospital the morning after my arrest after I felt considerable throbbing head pains and the inability to walk properly. The results of my scans and such should be at the hospital.
I have come to the conclusion that I was unlawfully arrested, inappropriately beaten and inconvenienced by the ordeal. I wish to file suit against the officer and the Santa Monica Police Department for false arrest and police brutality.
Since my DUI in May I have met all court dates, paid all fees, registered for drinking driver program and gone to AA. over 30 days sober. I have never been arrested for a crime as this is the worst year ever.

All of these events happened directly after my divorce. Pow! They say God works in mysterious ways. I just wish they weren’t so painful.

I am a 5′9″ white guy without a harmful bone in my body. I had 2 drinks over 3 hours and walked an additional 45 minutes to my friends location. There were no witnesses and no film. The cop in his report said I reached for his microphone and grabbed his crotch and that he struck me three times in the head when I was on the ground. I vaguely heard him call for backup, my guess is since he was a tiny chinese guy (like the red power ranger) he was too weak to lift me into his car. My shoes were scuffed as a result. If anybody knows a good pro-bono lawyer who has dealt with a case like this please HELP!

I still have some swelling after breaking my ankle 5 weeks ago. Is this normal?

I broke my ankle in 2 places on August 1st
I fractured the Talus bone, and chipped the end of the Tibia where it connects to the foot.
My talus fracture can only be seen on a CT scan (it’s way in there).
My pain is and has been manageable
I have been able to stand after 2 weeks
After 3 weeks the cast came off and was given a walking cast that allows flexion and extension of the ankle on a limited allowance. (15 degrees each way)

I can walk fine and do stairs- even without the boot.

What concerns me is that I still swell up every morning. Mainly surrounding the Achilles tendon, and on the outer-front of the ankle. (on the pinky-toe side of the ankle)

The swelling goes down while I sleep with it elevated- but not even 5 minutes after I get up- it swells up again. Not terribly, but noticeable. It seems to only go away after sleep.

Is this normal?

Swelling remains after a broken ankle… 5 weeks into the healing, is this normal?

Is there a blood supply issue with the talus bone possibly? I read an article regarding talus fractures and learned that blood supply is an issue when there is a fracture.

My ankle if very inflexable. Can this disqualify me at MEPS?

My achilles tendon is tighter than most peoples i guess. It’s never been a problem for me though. I experience no pain from it, although I am a slow runner, I don’t know if it’s because of my ankle or not.
I don’t think I have flat feet because I have an arch.
My main concern is the duck walk. I can’t do it heel to toe. Will this disqualify me?

Also, I have been trying to stretch it to loosen it up. Does anyone know of any exercises that could help?
One guy saying that I can and one guy saying that I can’t. lol. I’m confused.
@Ross- It’s not something I think I have. I just know that I can’t bend my foot upwards unlike everyone else I know.

I’m 60 and have begun to swim for exercise in a pool.. googles keep fogging up what can I do to prevent this

I have some health issues asthsma prevents walking so swimming is reasonable in an indoor pool.. i usually work out in the pool at least an hour sometimes more 2-3 times a week. i feel better but I wear contacts and can’t go underwater so i got goggles but they fog up so much i can’t see. i just need a suggestion on what i can do to prevent it. will keep you posted.. i’ve already lost 11 lbs in just 3 weeks by just adding this activitiey to my routine . I work full time.. am raising 2 of my grandchildren and have no family to speak of near me.. I’m a single grandmother living in TN moved her 11 years ago the kids have been with me now 9 years.. so my life is not boring but i know for my health so I can be around to see them grown and on their own I have to take care of me.. and my health conditions prevent me from doing many things.. I also have a torn achilles tendon that flares up when i walk to much so that is another issue that allows me to swim with no pain to that injury

I asked this before, but no one answered?!?

I tore my achilles tendon a little over 2 years ago during track practice. It took about 8 months to heal and now it is throbbing again. I have a doctor but it is like 1- 1 1/2 hours away. I know I need to go, but can any body give me advice to help relieve the pain until I can get an appointment?! PLEASE no rude answers!

PS- I’m allergic to Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil and all of those), and Aspirin….

There are lawsuits against this medication, will taking it for 10 days cause the severe side effects?

I am taking ciprofloxacin. I was also taking ibuprofen to take down my fever. Well i later find out that cipro can cause irreversible CNS damage, phototoxicity, diarrhea, neurological symptoms, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, malaise, dysaesthesia, eosinophilia, seizure disorders, chronic tendonitis, tendon rupture (esp. achilles tendon), hypersensitivity to sun exposure, muscle wasting, heart problems, increased risk of developing steven johnson syndrome, etc.
And taking NSAIDS such as ibuprofen increase the risk of developing these severe side effects. I was taking them for two days. about 4 a day. I was NEVER told not to take ibuprofen! I was also never told about these sever problems that could develop from the medication.

The FDA has determined that Ciprofloxacin poses a serious and significant public health concern.

Why would a doctor give me this???????? and why wouldn’t the pharmacist tell me anything??????? I have the pharmacy sheet but it just says don’t take it with milk or calcium and that it can cause nausea and all the less serious side effects but it doesn’t say any of the serious side effects. or not to take it with ibuprofen.

Has anyone ever taken this with no problems?

Would taking it for 10 days cause the side effects that are listed?

Is this really Plantar Faciitis?

I have been suffering for well over a year with what my doctor insists is plantar faciitis (heel pain). I am beginning to wonder if it’s a correct diagnosis???? I’ll give you the basics:
I stretch every morning before getting out of bed (3 kinds of exercises to stretch).
I take Aleve for the pain 3 times a day.
My pain is NOT relieved by walking…..it makes it worse.
My achilles tendon is now involved (regardless of whether I stretch in the morning or not)
This only affects my right heel even though Doc says I’m over pronated (hi arches) on both feet.
The stretches sometimes make it worse.
The Aleve only takes the edge off.
My right leg swells when the pain starts to get really really bad. (Esp. if I’ve been on my feet, walking or cooking)
What is wrong with me? Why don’t the stretches help? Shouldn’t I be better after a full YEAR of exercise and Aleve???

I actually almost never go barefoot, even at home. I don’t have a cane either… I do however have a brace that I am supposed to wear any time I sit for a length of time, but I don’t probably wear it enough. Other than that I pretty much follow the podiatrist’s advice to the letter
In addition, I just bought a $100 pair of New Balance shoes (2 weeks ago) the model that my podiatrist recommended.

What does this MRI report mean? PLEASE HELP?

it’s a long story, but basically my doctor doesn’t know…so what does this mean? is it serious? it was done for achilles pain.

minimal achilles tendinpathy as indicated by a slight increased caliber of the tendon approx 3.5 cm proximal to insertion but without internal signal abnormality. small amount of fluid anterior and adjacent to achilles at superior calcanean margian indicating degree of peritenonitis.
slight increased caliber and t1/t2 signal of the peroneus longus and brevis tendon at retromalleolar groove. note is made of mild tendinopathy of the peroneus longus and brevis tendons, but no tenosynovitis.

would you think in 2 weeks it will be almost healed (enough to be able to play a championship baseball/basketball game)
